Not Too Much Information...

Some of you, who read my Investment Advisory, have left inquiries about my personal life.   Herein, you will find a bit about me.  Rather, nothing quite so personal; more of shopping and lifestyle.

It has links to some of my "favs" which you may appreciate.  As an aid to spending your Stock Profits, it's a good place to start.

My Partner questioned the rationale behind my publishing this Blog; it follows:
  • It's easier to pop in a link than to do the research for an opinion or commentary.
  • I can refer others to good products and services; saving them time in hunting Links to the best sites.  Besides, I already use the products/services and know the sources.
  • I fully endorse the products/services and own shares in most the companies, so I'd may as well "pump" them.
  • EGO.
  • VANITY.

Movies...

Where Eagles Dare:  If you are, at all, into WWII Action Adventure, this is the Classic for you.  And if you aren't, pay attention.  A Richard Burton at his peak and a young Clint Eastwood help make this movie worth the rental.

Velvet Goldmine:  Take a walk on the Wilde Side.  Cast includes Ewan McGregor, Johnathan Rhys-Meyers and Christian Bale before they were superstars.  As if that's not enough, wait for the scriptline, "Curt Wild...".

The Ice Storm:  "Seems like I grew up in this neighborhood..."; being "of" the 70's, the scenario was so familiar to me.  One of Ang Lee's best films (he hasn't had many), the characterizations by the many stars are wonderful.

The Grifters:  Anjelica Huston (gee, I could stop writing and be happy with the film), John Cusack and Annette Bening keep the plotline tightly wound.  Slick.

The Krays:  Not just another Gangster
Movie. Ron and Reg were Crime Lord
Brothers in the East End of London
during the 60's.  This dramatization
is great; especially for fans of
"The Eastender's", like me.

Other Movies of Note:  Network, Legend, Party Monster, The Song Remains The Same, PCU, Observe and Report, The Answer Man,

Actors of Note:
Dirk Bogarde
Margaret Rutherford
Edward Woodward
Jeremy Brett
Basil Rathbone
Kevin Spacey

NetflixThis is much easier than running down
to the local rental and they've selection galore.
We upgraded to play movies on the tele, so
                 far, "it's a good thing".

T.V. Viewing...

T.V. Listings-

Locate T.V.Sign up here to receive e-mails as to when
your favorite shows and movies will be shown
                      on T.V.

The Regulars:

Sqawk On The Street                          Cashing In
Street Signs                                          Cavuto
Fast Money                                          The Cost Of  Freedom
The Kudlow Report

As an Ol' Geezer I like to watch episodes from
older T.V Series; esp. of the 60's & 70's:

Hawaii Five-O - When Steve McGarrett is driving that
Mercury around town, stay out of his
way! That's the way a tank was
                             supposed to be driven with
                             gasoline @.36 per gallon.
Oh yeah, there's a new version on the

                             tele in 2010.  It's a bastardized, pale
                             immitation of the original.

The Avengers                             The Equalizer
Twin Peaks                                Stingray
Cannon                                       Inspector Morse

Some Current Favs:
The Eastenders                                   The Soup

Netflix-  Still the best place to rent T.V. Series from
                      yesteryear.

Quotes & "Dougisms"...

"The Minds of American Youth are being Wasted in the 'Devil's Toobox of The Internet'".  Rev. Eli Caldwell
(while posting on the internet...)

"A man without a pen doesn't need one".  D.
(If you're not prepared to do business, maybe you shouldn't be doing it...)

"Personal Responsibility gives one Personal Freedom".  D.

"Good fences make good neighbors".  Robert Frost

"The TRUTH will stand".  D.

"His shoes didn't show me much success"  Ed Posner ('81)
(Ed always told me to look at shoes in determining  how successful a man is. It stands.)

Shopping (Men)...

Nordstrom's-   THE store for business apparel and
                          shoes.
Eddie BauerFor Outerwear one can find more
                         expensive, but why?
OrvisTheir Field Pants are part of the uniform at the
            coffee shop on Saturday Mornings.
Dillard'sThis is one of my mainstays, mainly because
it's easy to find the stores.
Professional Bull Riders WearNothing, and I mean
                          Nothing, reeks of testosterone like
                           the wear available at PBR.
Bianchi USATrade in that Schwinn and get a real bike.

Can't beat these two sites for the "cool" factor:
T-Shirts (Rock, Shin Chan, etc...)
Adult Swim Shop

A Remote ControlThis is the Philips Pronto which is
the male equivalent of the "blue box"
                                from Tiffany & Co...
THORLOs Socks-  Oh stop.  You are not finding a
                                    better Sport Sock.
Safari Vest-  My months-long search for the
perfect safari vest is over.  And I could have
purchased it from a couple other sites, but
                        I found this one cool.
Vertu Cell Phones -  When you're ready to upgrade.
Ssence - Clothing
Barneys, NYC -  w/Free Shipping.
Brookstone
Think Geek
Edmund Scientific -  Gadgets and stuff.
Cabela's

                          2010.
REI

Shopping & Gifts (Women)...

Tiffany & Co.-  Every Fellow should give his Special Girl
something in a blue box.  It need not be a
"bankbuster", but it says "SPECIAL" like few
              other gifts.
Nordstrom For Her-  For those who are lost as to what
to give, they have "personal shoppers"
                                 eager to assist you.
See's Candies-  She'll know you didn't stop off at the
drug store on the way home.
Williams-Sonama-  If you're doing your job, she's not
doing all the cooking, but she'll
                                still appreciate something from them.
And I'm not talking about a new
                                frying pan!
Ssence
Cut Flowers
Swarovski Crystal
Watherford Crystal
The Gilt Group
Barneys, NYC-  w/ Free Shipping.

Facials...A "Spa Experience" takes up the day and she
already has a relationship with her hair stylist.
               That's why I consider a certificate for a facial
               a good "personal service" gift.

Julia Child Recipes-  This was tricky.
Seems the estate of the late Queen of The Kitchen
wants us to buy her cookbooks.
That's why you have the complete Bing page

I did find this one to buy what I consider the

                        for satiating a sweet tooth.

Andes Creme de Menthe
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter (original)-  I can't believe
it's not butter.  (Althought it was much better with
Trans Fat in it.)
Edward's Turtle Pie-  This is my pick of all the pastries
                                     Edward's produces.
Dove Ice-Cream-  Another bain of any weight loss
                              plans I have.
Snicker's Ice-Cream Bars-  "Bye-Bye" to the Diet, but
                               boy are they addictive!

Household...

Design, Renovations & Remodeling:

Houzz:  My fav style is French Provincial.  Houzz offers a plethora of Ideas along with links to designers, architects as well as links for purchasing design elements.  It's just a Great One-Stop for projects.

Cleansers:

Tide Detergent
Downy Fabric Softener
Go Naked Dish Soap-  I couldn't resist adding this to my
lists.  Besides the comic factor, there are two good reasons
for the addition.  First, the guys at Method are becoming
known for their environmentally safe cleansers.
More importantly, Go Naked was recently ranked the
most effective dish soap against best-selling mainstream
brands.  My mom put the bottle way in the back under
her kitchen sink.
Palmolive-  Despite my previous entry, I use Palmolive
                    Original for my general household.
Cascade
Barkeeper's Friend
Comet Cleanser
Clorox Bleach
Clorox Clean-Up (bathroom cleanser)

Toiletries...

Zest Soap-  Aqua.  How does a man begin the day without
                   this essential?
Gillette Skin Care-  I like their Razors, Shave
                                 and Aftershave Gels.
Nexxus for Hair-  Humectress is the BEST conditioner
I've ever used.  Not that I've tried to find
                           others since 1987.
Aveeno Lotion-  One may waste their time trying to find a
                          better moisturizer, but why?
Yardley English Lavender Soap-  The antithesis of how I
begin the day, but it's great for the
evening (unless one is going back to the
                          jobsite).
Nivea Creme & Skincare-  It takes some doing but use
only the creme produced in Germany.  To
                         those of us who know...
Mitchum Deodorant-  Don't waste time trying to find
                                   better protection.  Use unscented.

Good reasons for using Mitchum Unscented:
Obsession and ck One Colognes-  I discovered Obsession
in 1984 and it has been my fav ever since.
                         "One" is good for daytime.
Perry Ellis-  This is great for dating.  I don't use it nearly
                     enough!
Aramis Cologne-  This is for business meetings.
Armani-  A good switch from Aramis.

Now, as an "Ol' Geezer", I'm going to throw in some
opinion on buying Designer Colognes.  A company's
premiere fragrance is, usually, their best.  But I'm not
a "shopper", I know what I like.  Spend 30 minutes or
so at a fragrance counter in a good department store
to find what suits you.  And don't waste the attendant's
time and NOT buy something!
